Steven Dunbar, DVM

Steven Dunbar, DVM

Dr. Steven Dunbar is owner and founder of Yorba Regional Animal Hospital. After obtaining his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University Dr. Dunbar moved to California and established Eastlake Animal Hospital in 1984. Wanting to offer more services to his clients he expanded and opened East Hills Animal Hospital, the areas much-needed and first 24-hour emergency care and boarding facility.

After almost 25 years of veterinary service to the community Dr. Dunbar decided to pursue a vision. This vision was of a veterinary hospital like no other, a hospital that would be equipped to offer the best medicine possible while exceeding the highest standards and expectations of his clients.

Dr. Dunbar enjoys boating, fishing and traveling with his wife Jan and their 3 sons. The Dunbar family includes a Munsterlander Pointer named Sadie.

Andrea Jones-Bogan, MS, DVM

Andrea Jones-Bogan, MS, DVM

Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist

A Yorba Linda native, Dr. Andrea Bogan completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry and her Master of Science degree in Cellular Biology at Cal State Fullerton. She then went on to obtain her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and her Certification in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture at Colorado State University. In 2005, Dr. Andrea Bogan joined our team at Yorba Regional Animal Hospital. Dr. Bogan is a general practitioner, as well as, an animal acupuncturist. She enjoys all types of cases and animals but has a special interest in acupuncture, ultrasound and internal medicine.

Dr. Bogan has two large best friends she affectionately calls “my girls”, Little a 1-year old Pit Bull mix and Sophie a 5-year old Boerboel (South African Mastiff). When not caring for your pets, she enjoys having fun with her husband and sons, spending time with “her girls”, traveling, playing with her niece and nephews, and just being with family and friends.

Beckie Williams, DVM

Beckie Williams, DVM

Dr. Beckie Williams joined the staff of East Hills Animal Hospital in 2002 just in time to assist with the planning of Yorba Regional Animal Hospital. Having been raised in rural Kansas she was an active 4-H member who grew up showing horses and dogs. She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 1985. Dr. Williams and her partners now raise and show Pembroke Welsh Corgis, under the name of Coventry Kennels. She has traveled throughout the country with her dogs and has multiple Best in Show winners, including the top winning Pembroke in breed history.

Dr. Williams has a special interest in canine and feline reproduction and heads up the reproductive program at Yorba Regional Animal Hospital. She has extensive experience with breeding, whelping and neonatal care.

When not practicing veterinary medicine, or at a dog show, you can find Dr. Williams restoring her 1910 craftsman home located in a National Historic district.

Billi Jo Fremont, DVM

Billi Jo Fremont, DVM

Dr. Billi Jo Fremont joined the staff at East Hills Animal Hospital in 1996 and continued on after the move to Yorba Regional Animal Hospital in 2005. Dr. Fremont completed her undergraduate studies at Colorado State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1988. Dr. Fremont is an adjunct faculty member at Mount San Antonio College where she teaches Veterinary Technician classes. She has a special interest in soft tissue surgery.

When not working, Dr. Fremont spends time with her two sons and husband Ron plus their Pugs Mr. Peabody and Miss Jane. She enjoys sewing, making jewelry, art, gardening and hiking.

Craig Fujioka, DVM

Craig Fujioka, DVM

A Southern California Native, Dr. Craig Fujioka grew up in Yorba Linda. Back in 1994, he began volunteering for Dr. Dunbar at East Hills Animal Hospital and continued working there as an Emergency Technician during breaks from school. Dr. Fujioka received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Animal Physiology at UC San Diego. He went on to obtain his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed his clinical rotations at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. Dr. Fujioka enjoys the challenges of emergency medicine. His first position as a veterinary doctor was working the emergency shift at East Hills Animal Hospital, following that he became one of our emergency veterinarians here at Yorba Regional. Dr. Fujioka also mentors students from Western University School of Veterinary Medicine during their emergency rotations through our hospital.

Dr. Fujioka enjoys golfing and fishing and is a fan of the Angels, Lakers, and Chargers. He loves spending time with his wife and their two dogs and three cats.

Gary Tateyama, DVM

Gary Tateyama, DVM

Back in 1990 during vacation breaks from college, Dr. Gary Tateyama worked for Dr. Dunbar as a kennel attendant and technician. Having extended family members in Colorado, Dr. Tateyama attended Colorado State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, followed by his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. In 1996, Dr. Tateyama joined our team as a veterinarian and colleague. With his special interest in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Tateyama began working nights as the primary emergency doctor at East Hills Animal Hospital, which later became Yorba Regional Animal Hospital. In 2006, after 10 years of emergency medicine, Dr. Tateyama decided it was time to experience normal working hours as a day time veterinarian.

Dr. Tateyama has a Maltese named Reichen who loves coming to work with “Daddy” whenever possible, and a cat named Tiffany who prefers to NEVER come to work with Daddy. Dr. Tateyama is a Denver Broncos fan and he enjoys golfing, movies, amusement parks, and kickboxing aerobics. Dr. Tateyama’s favorite creative hobbies are drawing and cooking.

Grace M. Matsuura, DVM

Born and raised in Haleiwa, Hawaii, Dr. Grace Matsuura obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University. She was associate veterinarian at Community Veterinary Hospital for many years before joining Yorba Regional Animal Hospital, formerly East Hills Animal Hospital, in 2003. Dr. Matsuura has the distinction of having served as past president of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association. Her current family of pets includes: 3 dogs, 4 cats, 2 horses, 3 tortoises, 1 turtle, 7 fish and 6 chickens. When she is not caring for her pets or yours, Dr. Matsuura enjoys photography, traveling and sewing and spending time with her human family – husband, Anthony, and son, Tony Jr., an aspiring baseball star.

Heidi Watkins, DVM

Heidi Watkins, DVM

Dr. Heidi Watkins is a native of Southern California but has lived in several states over the years. She earned a Bachelors’ Degree in Biology from Montclair State University in New Jersey and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in 2006. Dr. Watkins spent her last year of veterinary medicine clinical studies at Texas A&M University. Dr. Watkins has a special interest in feline, exotic and wildlife medicine.  She utilizes combined traditional and complementary medicine, nutrition and nutraceuticals in practice. She has worked extensively with feral cat trap neuter-release programs and with homeless animal rescue and adoption.     Dr. Watkins has authored articles on animals for both print and online publications.  She enjoys spending personal time with her husband and their numerous cats.  Camping, horseback riding, scuba diving and sculpture are some of her favorite activities.

Kathleen Johnson, MS, DVM

Kathleen Johnson, MS, DVM

Dr. Johnson is a native of Southern California. She completed her undergraduate studies at Cal Poly Pomona with a major in Animal Science, continuing on to receive a Master’s Degree in Animal Behavior. Dr. Johnson obtained her DVM from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a general practitioner with a strong interest in internal medicine and animal behavior. Dr. Johnson is credentialed to perform Vet Stem therapy.  She is  Certified in Applied Animal Behavior and works with Board Certified Behaviorist Dr. Voith from Western University.

Dr. Johnson enjoys spending “off time” with her 4-legged children (3 Bouviers and a miniature poodle), her 2-legged son and her husband. When not playing with “all my children” she enjoys running, hiking, biking, pottery and traveling.

Linda S. Lee, DVM

A California native, Dr. Linda Lee obtained her Doctorate degree at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to graduation, she worked as a veterinary technician at various animal hospitals. After graduating, she practiced at All Creatures Animal Hospital and went on to join Yorba Regional Animal Hospital, formerly East Hills Animal Hospital, in 1998. Dr. Lee enjoys being “Godmother” to the many dogs of her friends and coworkers.

Robert Weiss, DVM

Robert Weiss, DVM

A native of Santa Monica, Dr. Robert Weiss obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree at UCLA and went on to complete his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree at Iowa State University. After which, he underwent rigorous training in a one-year rotating internship in internal medicine and surgery with VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. In 2007, Dr. Robert Weiss joined our team at Yorba Regional Animal Hospital. His areas of special interest are internal medicine, dermatology, and ultrasonography.

Dr. Weiss has a 14-year-old Chocolate Lab named Coco Bear and a 4-year-old Siamese named Harpo, who he affectionately calls “Fat Chubs”. If asked, he will tell you, “Coco thinks I’m the greatest person in the world, but Harpo begs to differ”. Dr. Weiss loves spending time with his wife and two sons. He is a huge Dodgers’, Bruins’ and Lakers’ fan and an avid outdoorsman. Cooking (and eating) are also favorite activities.

Robert Weiss, DVM

Sharon H. Hong, DVM

Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Dr. Sharon Hong received her Bachelor of Science degree from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. She went on to obtain her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis and joined Yorba Regional Animal Hospital in 2007. Her areas of special interest are internal medicine and ophthalmology. In her leisure time, Dr. Hong enjoys movies, badminton and cooking.

Thomas Babcock

Thomas Babcock, DVM

Dr. Thomas Babcock earned his DVM from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. He went on to do an internship in small animal emergency and critical care at Animal Emergency Referral Center. Dr. Babcock practiced veterinary emergency medicine for 2 years in the South Bay and in 2009 joined Yorba Regional Animal Hospital as an Emergency Veterinarian. He has a special interest in the advancing techniques of critical care. Dr. Babcock resides in the South Bay and enjoys motorcycles, golf, surfing and travel.

Dr. Fahie was born and raised in eastern Canada. She has a broad base of veterinary surgical experience including soft tissue, oncologic, neurologic, reconstructive and orthopedic procedures. She is known for her genuine compassion for her patients and their families. Her current clinical research involves therapy for osteoarthritis in dogs and objective methods of assessing lameness. Dr. Fahie enjoys training and mentoring veterinary students in surgical techniques and theory. She is an active participant in continuing education in surgery and teaching. Maria lives in Orange with her husband, 2 daughters, and their furry friends. They enjoy outdoor activities including camping, dirt bike riding, mountain biking and cyclocross.
